Hey all,
It's been a few weeks since the last shop update, and we've been fighting the latest round of daycare cooties this week, so I didn't have time to write a new how-to or fishing essay. I did make it to the 'Chu last Sunday, but it was a total skunk fest unless you count the snail that latched onto my spoon. I don't have much to write about that snail tale, so here's an update on what else is going on at New Dawn Tackle Co.
First of all, I'm thrilled to announce that my hats have arrived! The dadcore vibes are strong with this one.
I'm thinking about shooting a product video to have something visually appealing on my homepage. I've made a few cosmetic tweaks to that page since launching, but I haven't found a satisfying version of it yet.
In other news, I ran a combination of Earth Day and 4/20 sales last weekend. I tried too hard to incorporate the numbers 4 and 20, and the messaging fell flat. I had exactly 0 orders during this time. Maybe I'll go into that on a future podcast segment; I've got a laundry list of things that could improve next time.
I think my friends would agree that I'm a determined (see also: stubborn) individual, and I like to experiment until I find a solution that works. My next experiment will be some type of promotion to go with the hat drop. I don't know the details yet, but I'll share something on Instagram and Facebook.
I've also been slacking on t-shirt plans for the Summer. I reached out to a couple of designers, but haven't been good with following up. The ideas are still pretty abstract in my head, so I haven't been in any rush to brainstorm after the day job and playing Dr. Dad.
I'll end things this week on a positive note. I think I finally found a place to source soft plastics in tequila sunrise (if you know, you know). New plastic of another variety is in the mail, because my card got compromised a few weeks back. Once I've got the new card in-hand, I'll complete my dealer application and get to work on sourcing a few more products. I'm thinking of bringing in some spinnerbaits and bigger lures for Summer bass fishing. I'd also like to start building some species-specific bundles now that I've got a lot of the basics online.
